Every Saturday Visit the Frontenac Farmer's Market at the Verona Lions Hall, Sand Rd The Market is dedicated to providing the best and most varied local producer-based goods they can offer. This is a vibrant gathering place where friends can meet and shop, as well as an excellent resource for learning about food, agriculture, nutrition and our local community. Hours are from 9 am to 1:00pm. We hope to see you on Saturday

Lions Garlic Festival

9:00 AM to 2:00 PM Free entry and parking. We open rain or shine, outdoors or indoors at the Verona Lions Hall, 4505 Verona Sand Road, Verona, 20 minutes north of Kingston on Road 38. Sample great food, featuring remarkable beef from The Frontenac Cattlemen's Association cooked by Jim Lansdell of the Rivendell Golf Course, fabulous sausage from Hanover Farms, breakfast, dogs and fries from the Verona Lions Kitchen and farm-fresh corn, soups, vegetables, jams, preserves, local honey, maple syrup, garlic nibblers and baking from the Frontenac Farmer's Market. We also offer a children's centre with arts, crafts, activities, a miniature train ride and mini-golf.

The special draw, of course, is Great Garlic. Our marvellous Eastern Ontario vendors and The Frontenac Farmer's Market offer you your year's supply of over 17 varieties of fresh garlic along with braids, sauces, spreads and growing tips.

Once again, the Verona Garlic Festival proudly hosts the Eastern Ontario Garlic Awards, with prizes for the best single bulb, 12-variety display, educational display and braid. Scouts Canada Registration for 1st Verona will be held on Thursday, September 9th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Trinity United Church Hall on Bank St at Road 38. Register your Boys or Girls in Beavers ages 5 to 7 years, Cubs 8 to 10 years, Scouts 11 to 14 years, or Venturers 14 to 17 years. Deadline for submissions for the Best Tomato Story contest sponsored by the Frontenac Farmers' Market. The winners will get their stories published in the Frontenac News and will win gift certificates redeemable at the market.

The entry rules are simple. The stories must be original, 500 words or less, and they must be submitted by September 10. They can be submitted electronically, preferably sent as email attachments in a word processing program to information@frontenacfarmersmarket.ca or typed or handwritten on 8.5 x 11 white paper and mailed to Best Tomato Story contest, 3617 Desert Lake Road, Hartington ON K0H 1W0.

The prizes will be awarded on September 18 at 10am at the market, which is located at the Lions grounds on Sand Road in Verona (look for the signs).

Frontenac CFDC 2nd Annual Small Business Week Trade Show County of Frontenac Businesses are invited to join the Frontenac Community Futures Development Corporation to participate in a trade show in conjunction with Small Business Week®. Small Business Week pays tribute to the important contribution that small businesses make to the national economy. This year's theme is "Power Up Your Business. Invest. Innovate. Grow."

The Trade show is an opportunity for local businesses to promote their products and services to other businesses and residents. It will be held Thursday October 21, 2010 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Harrowsmith Free Methodist Church new gymnasium. The cost for a table top display ranges from $30 to $50 and businesses will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
