Downtown Verona is alive with flowers, thanks the the efforts of the many businesses and individuals who have adopted the flower barrels
lining Main Street, competing in Verona's first Adopt-a-Barrel Competition.
From Cedarwoods Drive in the south to Carlton Drive in the north, look for 36 barrels bursting with flowers.
Participants cared for their barrels all summer, competing for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes of $300, $200 and $100. But look through the pictures of the barrels below, and you will quickly see that it's not the money, but the pride of participation that counts.
A panel of independent judges chose the winners sometime in August. Winners were announced at the Lions Garlic Festival at the beginning of September.
